Challenger Program  
(sponsored by the Closter Recreation)

Closter's "Differently-Abled" Challenger Program was established 18 years ago for students of all ages with special needs from all areas of NJ and NY.  The "Differently-Abled" Challenger Program includes baseball/t-ball and track program in the spring, basketball in the winter, and a horseback riding program held in both the spring and fall.

Challenger Baseball/T-Ball
Closter Recreation’s Baseball/T-Ball Program for Differently-Abled children is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

The Baseball/T-Ball Program will begin with the first half of the hour in a clinic-type practice, aimed at developing the skills of the players.  Players will be playing a game in the second half of the hour.  This program is open to the children and young adults with special needs between the ages of 5 and up.

Game Schedule: Saturdays, April 27,  May 4, 11, 18 (No game on Memorial Weekend),  June 1, 8, 17, 22

Time:  9:30am - 10:30am

​Location:  Memorial Field on Harrington Avenue in Closter

REGISTRATION and $30 FEE is due by April 20, 2019.
Please register early so your Jersey will be ready on 4/27!

Spring 2019 
Challenger Track
The track program runs on Wednesdays at Northern Valley Demarest Regional HS Track.

The Track program will be held at NV Demarest High School track and we are fortunate each year to have High School track athletes work with our great athletes.  The one hour session will consist of various different track events and the children and young adults will all get well needed exercise. 
The program is open to children and young adults with special needs between the ages of 5 and up.
 
Dates for 2019 Track program are:
       5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5

Time:  5pm - 6pm

Location: NV Demarest Track

REGISTRATION and $20 FEE is due by April 20, 2019.
Please register early so your Jersey will be ready on 4/24!
