2025 SKI CLUB (Closter Residents Only)
updated 9/28/24
Parents of 6th, 7th, 8th graders interested in the Closter Recreation sponsored Ski Club,
The Closter Recreation Ski Club has been a part of our community for the past 30 + years. We have had the honor of having a set group of parents and Recreation Coaches volunteer their time to spearhead this club.
We will be having a PARENTS ONLY initial meeting to discuss the ski club for the 2025 season. Only new ski club members or parents with questions need to attend this initial meeting. Everyone please fill out the Google Form on the Rec website if you are interested in joining the ski club this year. Without enough commitment from the parents, we will not be able to continue this great program that we offer the youth of Closter. We need to have enough adult chaperones to attend the trips, monitor the children on the bus and at the lodge, and have enough help in coordinating loading and unloading the buses. 4 Chaperones per bus and 2 cars of chaperones to drive up to the mountain.
We are hoping that we can get the needed commitment to continue. Mountain Creek is selling 5 trip packages for $170 plus taxes and fees. We are planning to have 5 trips which are tentatively scheduled for the following dates: Friday, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. The make up date will be February 7th. Registration for the Ski Club will be through the Closter Rec website and will cover the membership and buses for the 5 trips. Registration opens on Wednesday, 10/23 at 7 pm and sells out fast. Mark your calendars for registration.
We will have information in greater detail as to what is needed/expected from everyone at the meeting, and we need at least one parent of each child in attendance for this make-or-break meeting if you are a first timer to the ski club. Those at the meeting and those who have filled out the Google Form will be given priority to attend the trips in the event we have one bus. (“One Bus” means that we will only be able to have 50 kids in the ski club, unless we have an overwhelming response and we can get two FULL buses of 100 kids).
The new parent meeting will take place on Monday Oct 21st at 7:00pm at the Tenakill auditorium. Please pass this message on to your friends and neighbors.
The Mandatory Parent/Child meeting that everyone in the ski club must attend will take place on Monday, November 11th at 7:00 pm at the Tenakill auditorium.
Email: [email protected] with questions.
Thank you,
Jim Oettinger and Closter Ski Club board members
